MAGIC is,
first and foremost, a learning tool for the 21st Century. This unique,
unprecedented program provides an innovative canvas to showcase students'
knowledge, talent and creativity in:
1.visual
and performing arts
2.cognitive
thinking and computer technology skills
and, best
of all, it is...
3.correlated
to the Standards of Learning (SOL's) and is already proving popular
among both teachers and students as a highly effective way to learn
and retain required material
Quite simply,
here's how it works:
MAGIC has
written a new song written to supplement your lectures on William Shakespeare’s
“The Tempest.” The timing is perfect because your students can utilize
MAGIC before attending the Royal Shakespeare Theatre Company’s production
of “The Tempest.” – presented by the Virginia Arts Festival
Students
follow the lesson plans while listening to the song and are guided to
create paintings, computer art and dance pieces for Internet art exhibits
and a multimedia concert.
These exercises
are correlated to Virginia's SOL's based on award-winning lesson plans
designed
by WHRO public television and radio educators.
